Homemade Taco Seasoning
I recently heard about another teenage boy with high blood pressure. The first, I've known about for several years and thought it was a random case, until now. When I searched the internet for the subject, I was alarmed at finding that even babies have been diagnosed with high blood pressure. Knowing this, should cause concern in the kitchens across this nation. We have sacrificed the health of our families for convenience. Convenience is so not worth the sacrifice!
Just has my fajita seasoning, this taco seasoning can be completely salt-free if need be for your family. While I don’t leave the salt out of my seasoning, I do not add any to the meat while cooking. Once finished, I will taste test it and most of the time, it doesn’t need any more salt.
Since I keep taco seasoning on hand, I use it on other things, not just taco meat. I sprinkle it on meat before grilling; the little kick it gives helps with the flavor. When making taco meat, after the meat is browned and drained, I use 3 tablespoons of seasoning with ½ cup of water and simmer for about 5 minutes.

The following recipe makes about ½ of a cup of seasoning, but I’ve included a smaller measurement of ingredients on the right side.
Homemade Taco Seasoning
Ingredients:
- ¼ cup chili powder {1 TBSP}
- 1 tsp garlic powder {¼ tsp}
- 1 tsp onion powder {¼ tsp}
- 1 tsp red pepper flakes {¼ tsp}
- 2 TBSP cumin {1 ½ tsp}
- 2 tsp paprika {½ tsp}
- 1 TBSP salt {1 tsp}
- 1 TBSP black pepper {1 tsp}
Directions:
Mix the ingredients together and store in an air-tight container.
Let me know if you give it a try!
