FOR TODAY Wednesday May 13, 2009

Outside my window... The sun is coming up with a partly cloudy sky.

I am thinking... About a prayer request that our family is praying about.

I am thankful for... My hard working husband, who loves the Lord and his family.

From the learning rooms... We are working on finishing up History for the year, today.

From the kitchen... I'll be baking bread today.

I am wearing... I'm still in my pjs. But will soon be changing into my cleaning clothes.

I am creating... I'm knitting an afghan. Hopefully, nothing goes wrong with it, since I've been working off and on for about 2 years now.

I am going... Nowhere until Church tonight, Hopefully.

I am reading... Mrs. Preacher - Succeeding as a Minister's Wife - For those in the Parsonage and the Pew by Karen Norheim, I found at a yard sale.

I am hoping... That I make it down to the garden before my husband gets home from work.

I am hearing... The birds sing praises unto their Maker, along with Toby scratching at the door.

Around the house... I'll be working on the bathrooms today and empting the trash cans, for trash day tomorrow.

One of my favorite things... Homemade Brownies!

A few plans for the rest of the week...I'll be going to the library to pick up a few books, that is being held for me.

I really enjoyed journaling today. I've been reading these for a while now, and decided I would give it a go. You can also join in on the fun at The Simple Woman's Daybook.

I am Loved

Have you ever felt that no one loves you? I have.  I don’t know anyone who has not felt unloved at one time or another in their life. This is something that Satan loves to make us feel. But on the other hand, the Lord doesn’t want us to feel this way.

In the Bible there are numerous verses that talk about the Love of God. So I know He wants us to know, that He loves us. It says in John 16:27 Jesus is talking to his disciples about His death and resurrection – “For the Father himself loveth you, because ye have loved me, and have believed that I came out from God. “And in John 17:23, Jesus is praying and talking with His Father in the Garden of Gethsemane, “ I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.”

When I think about what Jesus did for me, the day He died on the cross, it makes me realize that we are selfish people. How could we think, that no one loves us, when Christ gave all He had for us, when He died on the cross. Why would we want to sit and have a pity party and sing “Nobody Loves Me Everybody Hates Me, Guess I’ll Go Eat Worms?”  At least we could thank Him for loving us.

No matter what is going on in our lives. No matter who we think does not love us, remember that there is ONE who is always there and He loves us, more than we can imagine.

We Have Eternal Life

Before my break, I began a study on “Who am I to God.” I really thought that this was going to be quite easy and not take a long time to do. But as I began studying, I realized that I was wrong. I found myself not wanting to stop. I also realized it is just not about “who am I” but what I am entitled to, being a child of God. I was surprised! I can’t get over what I learned.

Eternal Life

You know, there are many people, who only think about two things.

  •  Going to Heaven – having the protection from being sent to Hell.
  •  Praying and having their prayers answered.

But there is so much more that goes along with being saved and having those extra special things that are included. Why would someone not want to know? Would you take a job and not know when you were going to get paid?

The first thing, that I found in my study = I have Eternal Life!

>John 3:36 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.

John 5:24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.

Exactly what is Eternal Life? Some would say, that we would live forever. That is correct.

Webster’s Dictionary defines Eternal as: having infinite duration : everlasting. The dictionary defines Everlasting as: lasting or enduring through all time.

Can you imagine, living forever? Think about it… To continuously live without dying. Having no fear of being separated from God. Being able to see Jesus one day, to be reunited with loved ones, that have gone on before us. To think about the things that are in Heaven, that we can’t even began to imagine what they are like.

I am excited about this study and want to share what I have found with you. Lord willing, each Friday, I’ll be posting about something that I found. I hope you will join me as we learn about Who am I to God.

Catching Up

I have really been busy this week. With all that has been going on here,I have stayed on top of our homeschooling. I can't stand the thought of getting behind. Since a good education for my son is at the top of my list, I make sure that I don't get behind. So there are some things, that have to be put on the back burner, so I can stay focused on the important things.

I have spent several hours this week, researching for a new homeschool curriculum. I'm waiting on some catalogs, so I can do more in depth searching. I am not one of these moms who like to have to hunt for everything that is going to be taught through out the year, so I look for the "school in a box" type curriculum. Since we are on the road more, I feel that the Abeka curriculum, is just not going to work in the fall. It is really hard to keep it working now, so I have decided to begin looking for a new one.

The services that we have been in this week have been so good. Yesterday was the Fantastic Friday at Canaan Baptist Church. This was an all day meeting. We were able to sit under the preaching of 9 preachers. How each of these messages stirred my heart! Some of the titles of the messages are: Failure Is Not Always Final, Are You On Speaking Terms With God,When The Morning Was Now Come, What We Are To Get Out Of Going To Church, Directions For Your Life and It Pleased God To Bruise Him.

Trying to balance out everything this week, I had to include working on a display and a brochure. Thank the Lord for Microsoft Office Word. I was able to come up with the brochure within just a matter of minutes. Of course, the information on the brochure has been a work in progress for some time now. Actually, I'm probably not finished with it. I'm sure that there will be something that I need to change.

I spent about 2 hours today catching up on house work. Laundry was the majority of the work, thank goodness it is all over with now.

We have a meeting in the morning at Brookton Baptist Church. I am looking forward to attending. My husband visited this church, back at the first of the month, when Monkey and I were sick with the flu.

I hope you all have a wonderful Lord's Day tomorrow.

Busy Days...

I have had a couple of busy days. Yesterday after homeschooling was finished, I spent a couple hours straightening up the house. I did some major cleaning last week, and I don't want to have to do that again for a while, so I touched up here and there.

Last night, we were able to attend church with my brother and his family. Their church is having their Land of Canaan Jubilee. Last night's speaker was Tony Hutson. I really enjoy being in a church that is ALIVE and on FIRE for God. My husband and I will be attending the Friday's services. I am looking forward to hearing from several Men of God.

Today, we quickly finished our homeschooling and headed off to the dentist. I had to take Monkey, he has a baby tooth that is going to have to be pulled. So next Tuesday, I'll be back there having a tooth pulled. ( I won't, but Monkey will.  Then this afternoon, I spent time doing laundry. I just love when this job is completed - when all the clothes are washed, dried and neatly folded and/ or hanging on hangers. It's a real sense of an accomplishment. At least it is in our house.

I love the job that I have been called to do... Being a wife and mother. There is nothing like it. I remember when I taught school, how I seemed to not have anytime for my home and family.Thank the Lord, for allowing me to leave the work world and enter the real work force - HOME. I know that there are many ladies that are not able to be at home with their families. In fact, I was one of them, until a few years ago. You can read about it in my About Me in the sidebar. For those that are working and want to be at home - Pray! God will provide a way for you to be at home.

A Look Within - Mary Magdeline

I'm very picky about the books I read. Devotionals are at the top of the list of types of books I normally do not buy because they are a study of the Bible from another's view point. There are very few I've read and would recommend.  The devotional book, I'm sharing today is one I would not recommend to just anyone but someone who I know is grounded in the Bible. There are things the author and I do not agree upon; like the facts in the story of Dinah and her horrible situation and Leah never finding joy in her marriage, just to name two.  Knowing how to pick through one's view point to get to the meat of the Biblical principles is a valuable tool.

As I mentioned early, you'll need to pick through Mrs. Taylor's view point on certain matters, but over all I enjoyed the study in the book  A Look Within by Faith Alvis Taylor.  Included in the book there is a study on Eve, Sarah, Rebekah, Leah, Rachel, Dinah, Miriam, Hannah, Michal, Esther, and Mary Magdalene.
When I got to the chapter on Mary Magdalene, I really learned a lot. There is not a tremendous amount of information about her in the Bible. But what is there, really tells a lot about what kind of person she was.
In every verse that Mary Magdalene is mentioned - Jesus was there also. The only thing is, Mary Magdalene was in the crowd that followed and ministered unto Jesus. (Matthew 27:56-61, 28:1-7, Mark 15:40-41, 47, 16:1-11,Luke 8:1-3,Luke 24:10, John 19:25, John 20:1-18)
This word minister according to Webster's dictionary means: to give aid or service.
I can only imagine what it must have been like to minister to Jesus. To be there and offer a cup of water, to gather food and prepare it for Him to eat. Or to take a message to someone. What a real blessing to would have been.
Mary Magdalene not only ministered unto Jesus when He was alive, but she tried to minister unto Him when He was hanging on the cross and at His burial. How sad, it must have been to be at the cross that day and then at the tomb that evening. I can't even imagine what must have been going through Mary Magdalene's mind.
When I read about when Jesus appears to Mary Magdalene in the garden after He arose, I get chills up my arms. To think Jesus chose her to be the first he appears to. Why? I think it has a lot to do with how she ministered unto Jesus and how she believed in who He is and what He came to do. I think her character had a lot to do with it.
What kind of character do you think Mary Magdalene had? I think she was Believing - she believed everything Jesus told her. I think she was Faithful - she was there in the "background" doing all that she could to help His ministry. I think she was Trustworthy - she could be sent to deliver a message about the resurrection. I think she was Competent- she could handle any job that was placed upon her. I think she was a Friend - she was with Jesus' mother Mary at one of the darkest moments in her life. She was there at the cross, watching all that was going on and at the sepulcher when Jesus was being buried.
Why would Mary Magdalene spend so much time ministering to Jesus? I believe that Mary Magdalene was extremely Grateful, for all that Jesus had done for her. At one time, she was a possessed women walking around the town, now she was a follower and believer of Jesus.
Mary Magdalene is one of many who are mentioned in the Bible, who had a "past," but they served the Lord. We can be just like this, no matter what our past maybe like. Jesus doesn't require us to give up our lives and families to serve Him. In fact we know what is required of us when we read Deuteronomy 10:12-13 And now, Israel, what do the Lord thy God require of thee, but to fear the Lord the God, to walk in all his ways and to love him, and to serve the Lord thy god with all thy heart and with all thy soul, To keep the commandments of the Lord and his statutes, which I command thee this day for thy good?
When I think about all that Jesus went through, for me, for us. Why can't we give our whole lives to Him?

Homeschooling Fun...

I have been super busy the past couple of days, trying to figure out what to do about pictures for my son's animal notebook. I had downloaded some pictures and printed them and they looked horrible.

After racking my brain, I decided to go to the thrift store to look for books about animals. All the way there, I was praying that I would find everything that I needed.

Hallelujah!!!! I found several. I did have to go to 2 stores in town, but I did find what I was looking for. The only pictures I did have to print were of a salamander and a mud puppy.

I did find some other little fun books for my son. We have been reading jokes to each other all afternoon from some joke books that I bought. I also found the complete set of Thomas the Tank Engine stories in a Collectible book. I remember when my son was about 4 years old, I wanted to buy him this book, but we just did not have the money to spend on a new book. I paid 50 cents for this book. What a blessing. I have to say, that Monkey has really enjoyed spending several hours of reading, some of his favorite stories.

Anyway, back to the books of animals... I think what hurt the most, was knowing that I was going to end up having to cut the books apart, so we can use them for his notebook. We have really enjoyed putting this notebook together.

I told Monkey how, I did this same Science notebook, when I was in third grade. I told him what it looked like and how I cut, and cut, and cut, and cut some more on letters for the labeling of each of the animals. Now, after almost 30 years have past, I am asking."Why in the world did we not use the typewriter?" It would have been a lot easier.
