It's hard to believe I've been writing since 2008. I've taken time off the past five years from publishing, but I've not stopped writing. I don't write as much as I used to but I write for myself and my mental health.
I'm still writing in a journal I started for my son when he was in elementary school. I'm writing in a journal I started after my husband and I became empty nesters. I've started a journal where I write about what I've learned while working at my job - I've learned a lot about myself and the world we live in.
A lot has happened since I started my little personal "web log" while living in western Montana in 2008. There's been several moves, job change, graduation, family moving further away. I realized teaching was no longer in my blood, I replaced the love for teaching with helping families in my community in a way I never thought imaginable. There was a car accident that I should not have walked away from with no injuries. The son who has grown into one of my heros. The retirement of a husband. The loss of a pet who came into my life when I needed him all those years ago. The humble beginnings of a family business.
While I don't know what the future holds for Frog's Lilypad. I do know this, it's not going anywhere. I'll be working to update links. I'll be republishing old posts that mean a lot to me in hopes they will live on for those who need it the most.
I'm not on social media much. While I like to spend a few minutes here and there throughout the day to get a mental break, social media is not a priority. I have two that I use more often than others. Since I'm not trying to sell soap online any more, I don't see the need to keep putting myself out there for most people to not see due to algorithms.
I mentioned I've learned a lot about myself and the world we live in. I've learned so many things are a thief of time, energy, and joy. A gentle reminder - choose the things that really matter in life.
If you're dropping by as an old friend or even a new friend. Say Hi!
