Beef: It's Not What's for Dinner at Our House and Why
We are a family of carnivores. We love meat! I’ll never forget the look on the face of a meat salesman who came to my door when I told him we don’t eat beef. We were living in the middle of cattle country and any meat that is processed and sold in that area is Angus. He shook his head and said that’s crazy because everybody eats Angus beef. Well, we don’t because it’s not what’s for dinner at our house. This post is not about the evils of meat, but rather a reason why we don’t eat a certain kind. If we could, we would still be enjoying it.

Don't Break the Bank! Save by Planning Ahead
Save money by planning ahead. All it takes is a little time and determination and you too can watch the money begin to stay where it belongs, in your pocket.I’m a firm believer in meal planning. When I first began planning our meals, I saw how it saved us money. Over the years, I’ve loosened my grip on meal planning but I still plan.

Saving Money with Babies and Children
Of all the advice I was given about buying for my new baby, my mom’s advice was perfect. Don’t buy or ask for anything you know you won’t use. That was 19 years ago, and it still rings true when I’m shopping. No matter what kind of budget you have, you can still save money on babies and children.

When people think about saving money, coupons are the first to come to mind. Coupons are NOT the only way to save money all you need to do is look around at what you’re spending money on. Consider the differences between your needs and wants. Are the wants weighing you down? It might be time to cut them loose and start putting that extra money in your pocket. Your budget will be thankful and so will you in the end. With a little creativity and minor sacrificing, you too can start saving money without clipping coupons.

Pet Expenses: Four Easy Ways to Save Money
In forty something years, I’ve had many pets. All were outside pets and only my sweet Mikey has been a house member. When I think about those pets who brought happiness to my heart, Mikey is the only one who has had a special bond. I didn’t realize how much he would mean to me when we opened our home to him. Mikey is my baby.

Saving Money As a Homemaker {Day 12}
This post in the Homemaking Series is not a list of ways to save money, but rather an encouragement. While something works for our family, I don’t expect it to work for you. Every home is different and every situation is different. My encouragement is to stop, look around, and find areas where you can save money.

Saving Money with Roku {an update}
Better late than never I say since this post is two weeks late. Today, I’m updating about our Roku box. I love the fact we can choose what channels we want to watch that are GEARED TO WHAT WE LIKE. There are no forcing channels on us and we are NOT tied to a certain time to watch a show. Best of all, we are not under a contract to watch up to date TV shows and movies. We're saving money with Roku and I LOVE IT!

Saving $750 And Still Enjoying TV
In January, we decided to cut the cash flow to paying for television. It has been the best thing we’ve done in a l-o-n-g time. The main reason for this decision was to save money, but we also did not enjoy worrying about crude advertisements while watching TV. We're saving $750 and still enjoying TV very much.

Saving Money With The Library
Being a one income family who home educates, I have had to learn ways to save money in our school. Saving money with the library is our biggest means of not over spending. We are not one of those families with book shelves that line the walls full of books any more. We were in the past and many of the books either found themselves on Ebay, in a yard sale, or in the backdoor of a local thrift store. We do have a few non-fiction books that are reread and Jamie has a collection of out of print William O. Steele books he is collecting. Other than that, we borrow books from the library.

Grocery Savings
Yesterday, I went to the grocery store.
My cabinets were beginning to look like "Old Mother Hubbard's." I have not bought groceries in quite a while now. I have been trying to cook up all that I had to help keep some costs down. I think the only thing, that I have bought since my last shopping trip was eggs, milk, sugar and yeast.

Grocery Savings
Over the weekend, I did our grocery shopping. I spent a lot more money this weekend but I was able to stock up on many items and still saved a bundle. I should not have to buy any groceries except for milk, eggs and the like until the end of the month. Hopefully, not until the second week of April, but we will see.

A Savings
Grocery Shopping is a love/hate situation for me. For the first couple of years after my husband and I were married, I had a list ready for every Friday night. Then when I went back to teaching, I would buy groceries every 2 weeks. When I came home full time, I started buying groceries once a month. I continued my once a month shopping until about 6 months ago. Since we have been living by faith, I have now started shopping when the “moola” is available. I’m so Thankful, that we have a freezer that is 1/4 of the way full and several shelves of home canned foods.
