There's Someone In The Kitchen...

I have really been busy the last couple of days. My parents' apple trees are just loaded with apples.

Sunday night after church, I picked a huge basket and turned them into Apple Butter. I made 2 batches. One on Sunday night and the other on Monday night. The good thing about this recipe is, that I can let it cook over night and then can it in the morning before it gets too hot.

Last night, we picked another huge basket and I turned those apples into Apple Sauce. Since I am the only one who really eats homemade apple sauce, I use what I make for my Applesauce Cake. I am going to be making another 2 batches, since I will be giving the apple sauce along with my recipe for Christmas this year. I love Christmas gifts that someone has actually spent time in creating. For the past few years now, we have given homemade kitchen goodies for presents.

I have not been to the grocery store this week, so I really have to go sometime tomorrow. Then I'll be going to the church to practice the piano for Sunday. I had to play last Sunday night, so I'm pretty sure, I'll be playing again this week. I have to tell a little secret... I can only play arrangements. I can't play from a Hymnal for people to sing to. I could not believe how the Lord took over my hands on Sunday and played the piano for me. What an awesome God, we serve!

FOR TODAY... Wednesday, July 29, 2009

Outside my window... Cloudy and humid. Hopefully we will get some more rain.

I am thinking... What I need to add and/or take off the Prayer List for Church tonight.

I am thankful for... The much needed rain that we received yesterday and last night.

From the learning rooms... All the books are here. I'm going through them and working on lesson plans. I'm making a master list of the books that I'll be needing from the library - in the order that we will be needing them.

From the kitchen... I think we'll be having Spaghetti and garlic bread for supper tonight. Oh yeah, and a cherry cheese cake.

I am wearing... A sleeveless shirt and a pair of knee length shorts. These are my indoor only house cleaning clothes.

I am creating... I've been really bad these last couple of weeks. I just have not been in the mood to work on anything.

I am going... Hopefully no where until Church tonight.

I am reading... I just started reading Whispers Along the Rails by Judith Miller. This is the second book of the Postcards from Pullman series. The first book, In the Company of Secrets was really good. I think I have found another favorite author.

I am hoping and praying... That the Lord brings the right man to be our pastor for our church.

I am hearing... Silence this morning.

Around the house... I have some laundry to finish up and I really need to scrub our bathroom.

One of my favorite things... The smell of pinesol. I know!

A few plans for the rest of the week... Hopefully I'll be able to stay at home the rest of the week, so I can continue working on our school things.

Here is picture thought I am sharing...

This picture is 11 years old. Our wedding day.

The Last Few Days

I've have been either out of the house on the road going somewhere, or I have been on the couch not feeling well, the couple of days.

On Thursday (our 11th anniversary), our family went to CAVE SPRING, Georgia to visit the cave and the springs. This was really neat. I had been wanting to go there, now for a while. We were able to visit a couple of shops on the town square.

The spring is really neat... when the water comes out of the mountain, they have it so it will run in two different directions through Rolater Park. One of the spill-overs is a large pond with trout swimming around. The other direction, the water spills over into the Springs pool. How neat is that? I did not take any pictures of the pool, since I'm sure some of you know, not everyone is covered while swimming.

After having a nice lunch and window shopping through the town, we headed over to BERRY COLLEGE. My husband has heard a lot of talk about the architectural designs in the buildings, so we decided to stop by and have a look around. All I can say is amazing. The designs of the Chapels, and other buildings are beautiful.

Today and yesterday, I have not felt well at all. I spent most of both days on the couch dozing off and on. I did make myself get up and run to Walmart, so I could exchange a pair of jeans for Monkey. I was able to pick up our white board for school this fall.

Hopefully, I'll be feeling better in the morning. I hope you all have had a good weekend.

Outside my window... Cloudy and foggy.

I am thinking... When is all this Mi*hael J*ackson mess going to stop. I'm tired of hearing about him and his family, every time I turn on the news.

I am thankful for... The Handfuls of Purpose that has been bestowed upon my family.

From the learning rooms... I ordered the school books yesterday, so the countdown begins.

From the kitchen... Homemade pizza for supper tonight.

I am wearing... My old trusty pink night gown.

I am creating... I'm not too creative this week.

I am going... To the library and then to church.

I am reading... Psalms, Proverbs and Mark in the Bible and Shadows of the Canyon by Tracie Peterson.

I am hoping (praying)... For my husband as he as left for a photography job this morning.

I am hearing... The weather on the TV.

Around the house... I've been busy getting things ready for our new school year to start.

One of my favorite things... Soft towels out of the dryer.

A few plans for the rest of the week... Not really sure as my husband has a couple of jobs to do. Tomorrow is our anniversary, so there will be steaks on the grill.

Here is picture thought I am sharing... No picture today.

Getting Ready for Another Year

I can't believe that it is already the middle of July. It seems just like yesterday was January first. Time really does fly by when you get older.

I have been busy yesterday and today getting classrooms ready. Yep, I said "classrooms." The first room was the Children's Church class room at Church. I was able to go in yesterday afternoon and work for about 4 hours. I really don't think it would have taken me that long, if I would not have been having to find something interesting for Monkey and my husband to do. LOL! Actually, they were a big help. They moved out a book shelf and tons of books that needed to find another home. There was also a table that left out of the room. On top of the bulletin boards being changed and some Bible verse posters being put up, there was a deep cleaning of the room. You know that closet, or that cabinet? You know the one... where all the clutter seems to find a home. Well, I purged one yesterday. I could not believe all the stuff that has been put in and forgotten about. All Gone! Nice and organized.

As for our homeschool room... We really don't have a room, we have a section of the basement that is being used as our classroom. I moved my sewing machine table beside the window and this will serve as a desk when I'm not sewing. I'm hoping to go this week and pick up a white board to hang above the table. I found a board that is also magnetic so this will help in hanging up charts and maps. YAY!!! I'm so excited about this.

I was able to order all of our homeschool books today. I have had the list ready since forever it seems like. I was just waiting on the Lord to provide the funds to place the order. I love how He always provides.

I did order the Exploring Creation Through Astronomy by Apologia. I mentioned once before about how I was concerned with how the Charlotte Mason method and Achievement Testing would work with each other. I found the answer through a Georgia-Charlotte Mason Yahoo Group. To make a long story short... As long as I include living books for Science at the fourth grade level, we will do fine, since the testing is only required every three years.

I love to shop for school supplies. I always have. I remember when I was in elementary school, we would go the first day and get our supply list and we would head on over to the Treasure Island store. I remember those long isles of school supplies set out for all the little hands to pick and choose a lunch box, a book bag, folders, pencil boxes, crayons, pencils, paper, rulers, scissors and glue.

Today it is no different. I still love to look through the book bags and lunch boxes, although they don't have any cute lunch boxes like my Raggedy Ann and Andy or my Strawberry Shortcake. But hey, I don't have to worry about buying a lunch box or a book bag.

I enjoyed going to Walmart today and picking up our markers, pencils, paper, folders, etc. It was not until I got home and everything unpacked, that Monkey asked,"Did you buy me any notebooks with the round thing on the side?" ( Spiral notebook 😊 ) I had to disappoint him and said, "No, I didn't think we would need them." I was informed, "But Momma, I have to have them, those are the best for not losing my special papers." So when I go pick up my white board, I'll have to pick up a couple of spiral notebooks.

For Today... Thursday, July 16, 2009

Outside my window...Is partly cloudy and MUGGY! The birds are chirping and Toby is knocking at the door with his tail.

I am thinking... About where I'm going to put all the jars of beans, jelly, salsa, tomatoes and spaghetti sauce that I have canned.

I am thankful for... For a roof above my head.

From the learning rooms...The time is coming - I'm getting ready to order our school items.

From the kitchen... Chicken and Rice Casserole

I am wearing... My favorite pajamas

I am creating... I'm still working on my husband's afghan. I am determined to finish this thing. I have had to pull it apart now countless times. So no matter what I think about it, I'm doing all that I can to keep my frustrations at a limit.

I am going... To the library today, then I have to stop by the church to pick up some Children's Church things, for Sunday. Yeah, I was at church last night. But we had a missionary to drop in and I ended up spending my time talking.

I am reading... Proverbs and Matthew from the Bible. I have finished up all my other books, so I have got to pick up a few more.

I am hoping... And praying that the Lord works quickly in placing the right man as our Pastor in our church. I know that prayer may sound selfish to some, but it is not easy for a missionary to not have a Pastor.

I am hearing... The Outdoor Channel and a hunting show.

Around the house... I have some dusting and vacuuming for today.

One of my favorite things... Hearing my son talk about a verse that he read and has a message idea, that he would love to preach one day.

A few plans for the rest of the week... Not to sure at the moment, just taking one day at a time.

Here is picture thought I am sharing...

I took this a couple of weeks ago, when we went up to the mountains for the day. This butterfly was in an old fire pit beside the river.

FOR TODAY ...Wednesday, July 1, 2009

Outside my window...Sunny, hot and humid
I am thinking...Where is the timing going? It's already July. Too soon enough it will be Christmas and another year over.

I am thankful for... For the little things.

From the learning rooms...Not much of book learning. But learning how to preserve foods for later use. My son loves this. The only thing he stays away from is the canner.

From the kitchen... I'll be cooking corn and anything else that is ready in the garden, to be put up for the fall and winter months.

I am wearing... My pj's, since I slept in a little this morning.

I am creating... I'm recreating my Master Menu Planner for the Year and my Master Ingredient List.

I am going... Nowhere until church tonight, then to the library on the way home.

I am reading... A Love to Last Forever by Tracie Peterson

I am hoping... And praying that it would rain, my garden is drying up, no matter how much we water it.

I am hearing... The soft snores of those who are sleeping in.

Around the house... I have tried to stay on top of household chores. I do have a small mountain of laundry trying to grow. But hey, who doesn't, right?

One of my favorite things... My family
A few plans for the rest of the week... Nothing much going on here. Since the mega fireworks show in the next county has been called off, due to the economy - We have been deciding on where to go.
