Day Book

Outside my window... The sun is shining. There are light wispy clouds floating in the sky. I hear several neighbors working in their yards. We have a beautiful pair of blue birds flying around the new little house that was put up. The other one was just about had it. I was surprised that they raised a family in it, back in the spring. I can't believe how the birds have taken to this house so quickly.

I am thinking... About the things I have to do today like: Making pizza dough for supper tonight, Sew on the buttons I bought for the baby sweater and gather some of the baby bibs that I have been working on, so my husband can take it to a gift shop, that wants to see my work, Dry the load of straggler clothes ~ all laundry will be finished.

I am thankful for... So many things ~ A Husband that Loves Me, no matter what!

From the learning rooms...No actual school work today. But my son likes helping in the kitchen, so he will be helping me make the pizza dough. Actually, I'll be watching, while he puts everything together. He loves that!

From the kitchen... Today, pizza for supper. Tomorrow - Green Bean Casserole to take to the church tomorrow.

I am creating... I'm working on some baby bibs to send with the baby sweater that I knitted. I can't wait to finish up this project and get it in the mail. I know that our friends will be excited when they receive our package.

I am reading... The Daughter of Twin Oaks by Lauraine Snelling.

I am praying... For several things for our family. For our church as they want to do something for our community, not just be the little white church down the road.

Around the house... Everything has had a good scrubbing this week. So I'll only have to do some little cleaning over the next few days.

One of my favorite things... Sewing, I love being able to take a piece of fabric and a pattern and create something for either myself or someone to enjoy. Sewing is such a stress reducer for me, maybe not for others. But I really enjoy it.

A few plans for the rest of the week... There is a lot to do this next week. Tomorrow is church and the annual Thanksgiving Dinner after the evening service.  Then Monday- Wednesday we have school, Thanksgiving on Thursday and then maybe some light shopping on Friday. I'm not too sure about the shopping part this year.

Can You Say Busy?

I'm sorry that I have some lapses in posting lately. I have been busy lately. Since we came back from the Missions Conference, it seems like I have hit the floor running with no stopping.  I have been playing catch up  with our school work and as most of you that home school know,  getting behind is one of the hardest things to catch up on.

I have also been working on our scrapbook for our display. I guess this is going to be just like our DVD presentation... a continual work in progress.  Our DVD is finally after 8 months what we want! Yes, I said 8 months. Every time, we watched it, we saw something that we did not like or we found something that we wanted to add to it. So now, it is finally completed.  Now on to the scrapbook. Hopefully, it doesn't take 8 months to complete.

I am still working on that adorable baby sweater that I mentioned in an earlier post. I finished up the back, yesterday. I started the front right side today and actually finished it just a little while ago. Hopefully, before too long, I'll start the left side, while I wait for my husband to return from the Greater Atlanta Sword of the Lord Conference. I was going to go today, but school work really needed to be worked on.  I have found that this sweater is knitting up rather quickly. I'm even surprised at some of the new things that I am learning as I go.  And it's actually turning out really cute. ;) If everything goes according to plan, I'll post some pictures of what I have completed.

I also, wanted to let you know that we now have a new home church. Thank you all that prayed for us, while we were in a transition. On Sunday, we joined New Canaan Baptist Church after much prayer and after talking with the Pastor  several times. I 'm excited! This is a church that is really doing something. We started The Fortnight of Prayer on Sunday. This is something that is new to me, since there are no churches in our area that do this. This is a two-week long prayer meeting.  This is a time where all the members that are able will gather at the church for a night of prayer for our church, members, community and nation. What a wonderful thing!!!

Day Book

Outside my window... What a glorious morning! The sun is peeking through the trees. The birds are singing their praises.  The air is crispy. I love crispy mornings.

I am thinking... I'm all exciting about buying a drop spindle and some alpaca fiber. I've been wanting to try my hand as spinning for about a year now. This will also be used in our display for Missions Conferences and while visiting churches.
I am thankful for... I mentioned on Thursday about being thankful for an obedient husband.  I listened to the testimonies of many Missionary men this week. Of all the testimonies that were presented only one was very discouraging. I'm thankful that I have a husband who doesn't give up easily and/ or gets discouraged about our ministry to Montana.
From the learning rooms...Believe it or not, we have some make up work to work on today.  We also have to try and get ahead for Monday and Tuesday, since we are going to be in services again.
From the kitchen... I'm totally at a loss right now. I've got to grocery shopping, so the meals for today will more than likely be something rather easy and /or unhealthy. But every once in a while - it doesn't hurt.
I am wearing... I'm still in my pajamas since my husband has gone to the church to help with some work, and Monkey is still trying to catch up on his rest.
I am creating... I finally got started on the baby sweater that I mentioned in an earlier post. I'm so excited to see how it turns out.
I am going... I would like to say that I'll be going nowhere today. But I cant', since I have to go to the grocery store.
I am reading... A Lori Wick book ~ To Know Her By Name.
I am praying... For our family and the church that we have been visiting since the middle of October. If everything works out today in a meeting that my husband will have with the Pastor, we will be joining the church tomorrow.
I am hearing... A neighbor's lawnmower and a dog barking.
Around the house... I have some laundry, dusting and vacuuming to work on today.
One of my favorite things... Fall/Harvest decorations
A few plans for the rest of the week... Other than Church tomorrow, and attending the Greater Atlanta Sword Conference on Monday and Tuesday, everything else is up in the air.

Day Book

Outside my window... The sun is shining and a breeze is blowing in the windows.
I am thinking... How I wish it would dry out around here.

I am thankful for... Modern conveniences -  hair dryer and flat iron!!
From the learning rooms...We're studying about the southern colonies. The crops that were grown and the type of labor that was used to harvest those crops. I think Monkey really had an eye opening reading experience about slavery and the children that were brought up in it.
From the kitchen... Fried pork chops, roasted potatoes and squash casserole.
I am wearing... Clothes :)
I am creating... Knitted Christmas presents
I am going... to Church tonight
I am reading... I'm still working on A Bride in the Bargain by Deeanne Gist. I have to say, I think  this is probably her best book yet.
I am praying... About a couple of needs that need to be met before we leave next Wednesday for a Missions Conference in South Carolina.
I am hearing... My husband and son playing with Hot Wheels.
Around the house... A continual process of cleaning. It never ends!!!
One of my favorite things... Lindt Chocolatiers
A few plans for the rest of the week... Trying to stay ahead of everything, since we will be out of town a couple of days next week.

Our Weekend

I think I might be starting to get OLD!!! Yep, I said it. I am really having a hard time remembering things right now. I know what you are thinking~ everybody forgets something every once in a while. I have noticed lately that I tend to forget about posting. Some days I think it's because there is nothing really interesting going on. Then there are those days, that we have so much going on, I really can't make it over to the computer, long enough to drop in.

So here is an update on our weekend. On Friday, we spent the day in the mountains. I promise, every time we decide to go somewhere, lately, it RAINS!!!! I'm not complaining about the rain, because we really need it. Honestly, over the last couple of weeks, any time we left the house to go somewhere, it rained. The rain ruined any chance on us getting pictures of the leaves. I tell you, you would not believe the colors.  Fall is my favorite time of year. I love riding down the road(on a rainy day) and being able to look through the woods and see the yellows. This is not the brownish yellow, but the Golden Yellow. The color is so enticing, it makes you want to just pull over and spend quality time walking through the woods. We did walk some while it wasn't raining. We were able to pick up some leaves to use in our Nature Notebook. The temperature was perfect. It was about 60 degrees, just cool enough to give a slight chill, while letting you know that fall is here.

While driving further north, we were able to see some of the most beautiful crimson leaves that dotted a background of yellows, greens and oranges.  I have to tell you a secret... The Rocky Mountains have nothing on the North Georgia, North Carolina, and Tennessee mountains. Yes, they have beautiful snow capped mountains, peaks and ridges but there is nothing like the beautiful foliage you can see here in the fall.

Before we left for the mountains on Friday, we stopped at the Yarn Garden.  I have been wanting to stop at this store for sometime now. I finally made it to the shop when they were open. I was so inspired. I watched one lady knit a pair of socks using the double pointed needles. Amazing!!! I was even inspired enough to buy some yarn. This yarn is called "Cotton Kisses" by Plymouth Yarn Co. I bought it in the blue. The neat thing about this ball of yarn, is that it comes with the instructions and the buttons for the most adorable little baby's sweater and it only takes one ball. When I was talking to the lady about how cute the little sweater was and  how easy it looked. She told me all the stitches were either a continuing knit stitch or a purl stitch ( I know that there is a word for that, I just don't know it!). Well, I can do both of those, I told her and so I grabbed a ball of yarn.  I really miss not being able to visit a "real" yarn shop. There is a really neat yarn shop in Montana, that I loved visiting and getting inspiration. Well, I now have set my sights on having a new favorite store.

It was not until after I got back in the car, when fear set in. I could not believe that I just spent $15.00 on one ball of yarn. What was I thinking about trying to knit a sweater? The encouragement that I received in the store was gone. My sweet husband and son both told me, "You can do it, just take your time and only work on it when there is nothing important needing to be done."  What sweet words to hear. Now that I have finished a couple of very small projects,  I'll be starting that adorable sweater this week.

Saturday, I spent straightening up and some light dusting. Today, we went to church and had wonderful services.  I hope you all have had a great weekend.

Day Book

Outside my window... It's dark. The sun in not even up yet.

I am thinking... About all the things that are going on in our lives.
I am thankful for... My health and the good health of my family.
From the learning rooms...We spent this morning out side, to see the meteor shower. Monkey and I really enjoyed this, since it is not common for us to be outdoors at 4:00 in the morning.
From the kitchen... Homemade Corn Chowder for supper tonight.
I am wearing... I'm still in my pajamas, since I am planning on crawling back into bed for a little while.
I am creating... I'm working on a few baby bibs and trying my hand at a pair of baby socks for a friend of ours who lives in Montana.
I am going... No where, until Church tonight. We are visiting a church, not as missionaries, but as prospective members.
I am reading... A Bride in the Bargain by Deeanne Gist.
I am praying... About our Church situation along with a support increase.
I am hearing... Nothing! Except for someone moving around in their bed.
Around the house... I have some straightening up to do today.
One of my favorite things... Buying and eating those snack size candy bars that are out this time of year. I just don't feel as guilty about eating them, as I do a regular size candy bar.
A few plans for the rest of the week... I'm a homebody, so hopefully I can stay around the house as much as possible.

Daybook

Outside my window...  It's windy, cloudy and drizzly.

I am thinking... How I have so much to do around the house today.

I am thankful for... The Love of God

From the learning rooms... We're enjoying learning about the sun along with United States colonies. We're chugging along with Math.

From the kitchen... Chicken Quesadillas

I am wearing... Comfortable clothes to clean house.

I am creating... Trying to finish up on the rag quilt. Since I did not make this quilt like all the other rag quilts, I'm having to "quilt" the thing to keep the batting from moving around. Once I'm finished with the quilting, then I'll take it to the laundry mat and wash and dry it there.

I am going... To church later on tonight.

I am reading... My Bible

I am hoping...That everything goes well for my husband today in meeting with a few pastors.

I am hearing... The wind blowing through the windows.

Around the house... Lots to do.

One of my favorite things... FALL!

Here is picture for thought I am sharing...
