Mental health is a subject the church needs to address and not sweep under the rug any longer. It's not a sin to suffer from a mental illness. But it is a sin when we ignore those who are suffering.

The Realness of Mental Illness

The realness of mental illness. It’s a real condition. There is no shame in it. Don't suffer quietly because of what others may say or think.
The faces of mental illness are real; they are our parents, our siblings, our spouse, our children. It is a real illness just like cancer; no one is immune to it.
Why do so many sweep mental illness under the rug as if it isn’t a real medical condition?

The Day I Could Do Nothing to Help

My breath caught in my throat. Did the words I just hear happen? Yes, they were spoken and not as a joke. It was Friday afternoon, and I was frantically trying to finish up a batch of calls, waiting for 5:00 to come. It had been a long week. Every day seemed to drag by, and on Friday the time moved at a snail’s pace.
