To Be Living Life
I shared about living a full life in the past; I still feel the same way I did when I wrote that. When the knot in my stomach formed this week, I brushed it aside and would not let woe as me feelings begin because I would not trade who I am today with whom I was thirty years ago.
Life moves on quickly, way too quickly. To be living life in the past gets us nowhere. While there are changes we would like to make in our past, dwelling on them now doesn’t do us any good. The past is where it is, in the past.
To be living life in the future is not even possible – there is no use because we are not guaranteed our next breath. Sure, it’s nice to make plans and it’s probably wise to do so for certain things. But to be living life around a future event only brings disappointment when plans change.
To be living life in the present is where we should be; the moment that is happening right now. Wherever you are, whatever you are called to do, live it. Don’t let fear keep you from living what you are supposed to do. If you are a parent – live it, enjoy the time you have with your children. If you are a writer – live it, make the time to write every day. If you are a salesperson – live it, go that extra mile to make your customers happy.

I know that a lot of people think turning 40 is awful, that didn't bother me much but when I turned 50 that was a different story I thought I am old ! now more than 20 yrs down the road I know that 50 year olds are still young. No matter how long the Lord lets me live I want to live it for Him!
ReplyDeleteGrowing older affects people differently. I hope I don't go off the deep end when I hit 50.
ReplyDeleteLori, Happy Belated Birthday! I'm with you ... I cannot believe 50 is closer than 40! As far as that goes, I can't believe the 30s are gone! Sometimes I wish I could freeze time, but you make such a good point. I shouldn't be worrying about what was or how fast tomorrow will come, I need to be living life in the present!
ReplyDeleteBlessings and smiles,
Lori
Thank you, Lori. My son is going to be gone from our home one day, I want him to remember we lived life and enjoyed it, together. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteI love what you wrote about living in the present! I got married at 30 and am now having our first child at 31. Sometimes I find myself getting a little anxious, wondering if we'll be able to have all the children we want to have and worrying about running out of time. But, you're right, these thoughts only serve to steal the joy that we have in this moment. My focus needs to be on right now and the beautiful blessings God has put before me. Thank you for the reminder and thanks for hosting the link up!
ReplyDeleteHi, Bree. I'm glad you found this post encourage. I have several friends my age who are still having babies, I pray the Lord allows you to have your heart's desire. Thanks for visiting.
